According to figures published by the Luxembourg regulation institute, the ILR, such parcels represented 58% of total traffic, driven by the rise of online shopping.

The total items of post handled in Luxembourg amounted to 191 million in 2016, continuing a downward trend which began in 2013. The number of posted mail items sent domestically has been in a steady decline since the same year with 142 million mailings in 2016.

The ILR reported that postal sector's total revenue amounted to €159 million in 2016, an increase of 4.9% compared to 2015. This turnover includes, on the one hand, the turnover of mail items postal charges or  “correspondence items” amounting to €119.62 million and, on the other hand, the turnover of parcels and express mail totalling €39.05 million.
