The economy minister, Franz Fayot (LSAP), said a revamped business aid scheme would “encourage companies to carry out investments to improve their competitiveness and produce in a more sustainable manner, despite the current investment climate that has been impaired by the covid-19 crisis.” Library picture: Franz Fayot is seen speaking at a press conference, 15 October 2020. This move is a tweak of an existing support package for companies affected by covid-19 restrictions, a scheme set to expire at the end of June.

The subsidies can cover up to half of project costs, the economy ministry said on 6 April.

So far the government has approved 207 applications, with €62m having been granted under the scheme.
