It was towed to the courtyard of Clervaux castle where, in 1974, it became a feature of the Ceba military museum. That was, until Monday.
Ceba volunteers loaded the Sherman tank onto a trailer to take it to Eijsden-Margraten in The Netherlands where it will be on display during ceremonies to comemorate the liberation of the town in September 1944. Afterwards, it will return to Luxembourg where it will be on display at a temporary exhibition, remembering the Liberation of Luxembourg by the 5th US Armored Division, in the town of Pétange.
Following its tour, the tank will undergo an extensive restoration before returning to Clervaux castle.
