On Friday, it adopted a draft regulation temporarily exempting vehicles whose roadworthiness validity expired between 18 March 2020 and the end of the health crisis.

Car owners will now have until 1 September 2020 at the latest to submit their private vehicle for the roadworthiness test.

The measure applies only to passenger vehicles and only for driving in Luxembourg.

Test centres remain open and car owners who are not considered vulnerable and are in good health are encouraged to keep existing appointments as far as possible.

The government has issued strict guidelines to testing centres. Measures include testing staff to wear single-use gloves or use a disinfectant against possible transmission of pathogens, or to use non-unique gloves that must be disinfected after each vehicle inspection. They have also been advised to wear masks and use seat covers if they have to operate a customer’s vehicle.
