According to an Aviation Safety Network incident report, the Boeing 747-8F taxied past the Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 plane, which was waiting for its gate to open, and clipped its winglet.

The Cargolux aircraft was bound for Luxembourg. Both aircraft remained on the ground at Chicago O’Hare airport 36 hours after the incident, according to Simple Flying.

A Cargolux spokesperson told Delano on Monday: “The wingtip of Cargolux’s 747-8 freighter was damaged following a ground incident in Chicago where the Cargolux -8 freighter’s right hand wingtip struck the left hand winglet of a Boeing 737 damaging both aircraft. The Cargolux freighter will be ferried back to Luxembourg for repair.”
