A working visit from Chinese officials to Luxembourg resulted in Cargolux signing new agreements with Chinese partners HAG and HNCAPhoto: Boeing

The agreements aim to further develop the dual hub strategy and airfreight infrastructure in Zhengzhou, China, and Luxembourg.

They were signed when Henan Province vice-governor Shu Qing, who is responsible for trade, tourism and foreign relations, paid a working visit to Luxembourg with a delegation of representatives of China's public enterprises from 12 to 15 August.

He spoke with finance minister Pierre Gramegna and education minister Claude Meisch, according to a government statement published Wednesday 16 August.

Luxembourg and Henan Province have in recent years fostered strong links in the area of air cargo. HNCA has held a 35% stake in Cargolux since 2014 and the two companies have set up the dual hub strategy to develop a European logistics hub at Luxembourg airport and a Chinese logistics hub in Zhengzhou.

During the visit, Luxembourg business chiefs discussed possible new collaborations between the grand duchy. No further details about the discussions were given by the government.
