Baby product Cérélac is contaminated and should not be consumed, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed said on Tuesday 19 July. SIP

The rapid alert system for food and feed (RASFF) alerted the Luxembourg authorities that Cerelac, from Nestlé, was found to be contaminated with PAH. These PAH are a group of more than 100 different chemical substances which form after incomplete combustion. Some of them are genotoxic carcinogens.

According to the RASFF, the contaminated product has already been distributed in several supermarkets in Luxembourg: Auchan, Cactus, Cora, Pall Center and Massen. Some pharmacies may also have received the product, and it cannot be excluded that other shops have had the product on their shelves.

Cerelac has been removed from all the concerned shops in Luxembourg, but some have already been sold.
