The current covid-19 rules, which reauthorised outdoor food and drink service under strict conditions, took effect on 7 April and expire on 25 April.

Bill 7802 would extend most of the current restrictions, including the overnight curfew and limits on the size of gatherings, until 15 May. However, the draft legislation clarifies the definition of a ‘terrace’ for bar and restaurant owners.

The draft bill would also permit students to use swimming pools, as well as increase the number of people who can participate in organised sporting activities and allow musicians to rehearse together, in compliance with physical spacing and other requirements.

The rapporteur of the bill is Mars Di Bartolomeo (LSAP), who chairs the health committee.

MPs are due to open their debate on Friday at 2pm.
