Perrin was recognised for his thesis “Cryptanalysis, Reverse-Engineering and Design of Symmetric Cryptographic Algorithms”, the Unviersity of Luxembourg said in an announcement on its website on 10 July.

The €10,000 prize is granted by the Amis de l’Université (friends of the university) association.

The prize “aims to reward excellence in the field of research and to promote the international reputation of the University of Luxembourg.” Rolf Tarrach was rector of the university from 2005 to 2014.
