A Eurostat report published on Monday found that Luxembourg was one of seven EU member states to have such a large annual drop in electricity consumption.

Across the EU, electricity consumption in June 2020 was 7.6% lower than the lowest June value recorded between 2016 and 2019.

Compared to June 2016, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Poland and Slovenia showed a consumption decrease of more than 10%, a decline thought to be linked to travel restrictions and their impact on tourism. Estonia, Ireland, Malta and Sweden reported an increase in electricity consumption compared with the lowest June level.
