I will remember 2017 as the year that Luxembourg…

celebrated the 150th anniversary of the 1867 Treaty of London and extended the warmest of welcomes to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who attended the commemorations on 11 May.

My personal highlight of the year…

was finishing my 700+km run through Luxembourg's 105 communes. And passing my B1 Luxembourgish exam!

The cultural event I enjoyed most was…

the Tour de France-related art and street art produced by British artist James Straffon. We hosted his exhibition of 12 canvasses that told the story of the Tour de France through its sporting legends. Street art versions of these portraits were on show in Place Guillaume and are still visible on walls in the old town, in Clausen and in some of the communes through which the Tour passed. The project celebrated Luxembourg cycling legends such as Nicolas Frantz, Frank Faber, Charly Gaul and Andy Schleck as well as other European cycling legends.

The best plate of food I had at a Luxembourg restaurant…

was at the Restaurant Vieux-Moulin near Echternach.

In 2018, I am most looking forward to…

running the Mullerthal Trail. And to a positive start of negotiations on an ambitious future partnership between the UK and the EU27!
