Dury received 95.52% of votes in the in-person secret ballot held ahead of the virtual congress on 27 March.

“As national president of the LCGB, I will continue my commitment to take up the challenges of digitalisation, environmental challenges as well as the efforts to modernise our union while being tirelessly committed to the defence and strengthening of the rights and interests of employees in the grand duchy,” said Dury.

The president first served as general secretary for the union in 2009, before first occupying the role of of president in November 2011.  

The elections for the renewal of the mandate of the national president were initially scheduled for March 2020 but had to be postponed because of the health crisis.

Dury, 55, began his career at Luxguard in Bascharage, before joining Arbed, where he became a member of the company delegation in 1993. In 1997, he became president of the LCGB local section in Differdange and in 1998 became trade union secretary for the national aviation companies at Findel and the federation of banks and insurance companies. From 2000 to 2010, he served as trade union secretary for the steel industry and private schools. He is married and has two children.
