- The European Investment Bank is set to lease part of RTL Group’s new headquarters, Paperjam has learned. The EIB will occupy 14,000 square metres of office space, to accommodate 500 staff, in “RTL City”, the recently inaugurated media complex in Kirchberg. The institution is expected to take occupancy next year.
- ArcelorMittal has regained its financial form. The steelmaker posted net income of $1bn on Ebitda (operating income) of $2.2bn during the first quarter of 2017. That is a rise from net income of $403m and Ebitda of $1.7bn during the fourth quarter last year, and a net loss of -$416m and Ebitda of $927m for the first quarter of 2016.
- Luxtrust reported 2016 turnover of €10m. That is a rise of 9% over the previous year. The company manages secure access to banking and government apps for around 525,000 users.
- The life insurer OneLife has signed a deal with Luxembourg regtech startup Kyctech. The startup’s system will handle part of the “onboarding process”, to meet compliance and risk requirements, for new client contracts.
- Jean-Michel Collignon of Luxexpo The Box and Alberto Kunkel of LuxairGroup have been named vice presidents of the Mice Cluster. Patrick Hoffnung of Luxembourg Congrès was previously voted president by members of the professional association. Luxembourg’s Mice (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) sector has grown 4% the past two years.
