Exclusive: The recruitment site Monster.lu had 2,281 total job offers in the Grand Duchy last month, the site revealed to Delano.lu Monday.
While that is the lowest monthly figure so far this year, June marks the beginning of the summer slowdown season for recruiters, explains Patrick Duarte, sales manager of Monster Luxembourg.
He expects job growth to continue along an upward path in the autumn. “We will see an increase in September, in line with the continuous increases in hiring we’ve seen since the beginning of this year,” Duarte says. In fact, he expects the “same linear rate of hiring [to continue] over the whole year.”
Unsurprisingly, more than 40 percent of Monster’s job postings were in the financial sector, followed by just over 11 percent in IT and nearly 9 percent in the legal field, Duarte states. “What is much more interesting is when you compare the number of openings” from January-June 2011 with the same period last year. By his count, there are 34 percent more financial jobs openings, versus only four percent in IT and 56 percent more in the legal sector. “IT is not seeing the same increase as finance, and legal is getting a lot more interesting,” he observes.
Duarte is also keen to promote Monster’s new professional networking application on Facebook, BeKnown, launched June 27 in 19 languages. He says the app is the first to open up the social networking service’s 700 million fans to recruiters, while allowing users to keep professional information separate from personal profiles and private photos.
