“They all have their pros and cons. It can be a minefield trying to find the right place to put your child. And it can be a financial burden too, depending on whether you need to put your child in a fee-paying school,” Frank explained.

She had to find her own way through the system when she moved to Luxembourg 11 years ago and her son was diagnosed with Asperger’s. Today Frank is able to share her findings and support other parents going through similar experiences.

“We try to equip parents to ask the right question to the right person at the right time in the process,” the social worker and psychologist explained.

Starting October, Passage will also launch a dedicated dad’s group, providing a safe sharing space for dads. “Dads often miss out on the opportunity to socialise and share their experience with other dads,” Frank said. Sessions will examine things like being a positive role model, preparing a child for the workplace and parenting in a digital world.
