The latest data is from 2016 and it shows that Inner London West is the EU region with the highest levels of annual disposable income.

The research measured disposable income in purchasing power consumption standard.

Oberbayern in the German state of Bavaria came second while Outer London West and North West came third.

Unsurprisingly, poorer regions of Eastern Europe had the lowest levels of disposable income and four of the lowest five were in Bulgaria.

What is surprising is that the exception and lowest ranked region is actually Mayotte, an overseas department of France. Even though Mayotte is much more prosperous than other regions in the Mozambique Channel, it is still France’s poorest region by a significant margin.
