Fewer refugee requests during first half of 2018

Luxembourg received 151 asylum applications in June, bringing the year’s running total to 850 requests for international protection, the immigration service has said.

Between January and June 2017, Luxembourg received 1,210 applications, according to government figures released on 17 July. The figure was 894 for the first six months of 2016.

The figures include both asylum-seekers who arrived directly in Luxembourg and refugees who were relocated here under the EU’s migration scheme.
