While it is now possible to dine and drink inside restaurants and cafes since 16 May, a compulsory covid test is required.

The City of Luxembourg announced on Monday the distribution of vouchers for rapid antigen tests to be performed in pharmacies.

Starting on today at 2pm, restaurant owners and cafes located in the capital can collect an envelope of 100 vouchers for these tests coupled with a certificate from the pharmacist valid for 24 hours. They can be picked up at the from city hall in Luxembourg City or at the VdL's Rocade administrative building,

The objective of the city is to incentivize restaurant professionals to give their customers the voucher for a free screening to be carried out in one of the 14 participating pharmacies. After performing this test in a pharmacy, customers can go to restaurants and cafés for 24 hours without having to be re-tested.

The voucher is valid until 12 June

This freedom comes at a cost, between 20 and 35 euros depending on the pharmacy.

From Tuesday 18 May the city is also distributing one voucher per customer. The vouchers will be valid until 12 June.

The City administration says the scheme is intended to "facilitate the procedures as much as possible for customers and restaurants." A similar initiative was organized last Sunday in Mamer, where the municipality offered a free Covid self-test with a certificate valid for 24 hours.
