Politics: Luxembourg’s former finance minister will discuss “European integration” at an April luncheon.
A former senior Luxembourg cabinet minister will speak on the future of the EU during a luncheon conference in April. Luc Frieden will give a talk entitled “‘Let Europe arise’--some thoughts on the future of European integration” to the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg.
Earlier this year the MEP Nigel Farage, who advocates for the UK leaving the EU, addressed the British chamber.
Frieden, who trained as a lawyer, was elected to the Chamber of Deputies on the CSV list in 1994. He was treasury minister from 1998 to 2009 and finance minister from 2009 to 2013. Frieden also served as justice minister between 1998 and 2009, and as defence minister between 2004 and 2006. He left parliament in 2015 and currently is vice chair of Deutsche Bank in London and board chair of Saint Paul Luxembourg, a publisher.
