According to a press release issued by the housing and economy ministries on Tuesday, Post holds a huge property portfolio, but several of its buildings are unoccupied.

The Housing Fund will acquire sites in Remich, Kayl, Troisvierges, Esch-sur-Sûre, Useldange and Wecker for €6m.

Most of the six properties are centrally located, the government said. The social housing agency will immediately rent out eight apartments; after renovations, 13 more will be placed on the market.

Two of the buildings, in Kayl and Troisvierges, still house post offices on the ground floor, which will remain open.
