The poster, which Lynn composed digitally after drawing the elements by hand, will be used as the main visual in the advertising campaign for the event, now in its 677th edition.

“When I made the poster, I wanted to include things you typically associate with the fair, like the waffle stand, the big Ferris wheel,” Lynn told Delano in an interview. “Putting sheep into it was important as well since they are common in Luxembourg funfairs, and I’m not sure everyone knows that.”

Lynn says she also intentionally selected a red and blue scheme, reminiscent of the colours of the Luxembourg flag.

The competition winners were selected on an anonymous basis and were announced by the Ville de Luxembourg in a 26 May press release. The jury was comprised of seven individuals, including Lydie Polfer, Luxembourg City mayor.

Lynn also takes home €1,000 as part of her win. Second and third prizes went to Carole Stoltz and Nadia Recken, who won €500 and €250, respectively.

The artwork will be on display at the Lëtzebuerg City Museum until 11 June, Tuesday through Sunday, 10am-6pm (on Thursdays until 8pm).

This year’s Schueberfouer takes place 23 August through 11 September on Glacis.

Lynn Cosyn has much to celebrate this year, having been recently selected to take part in an artist-in-residency programme at the Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo, Japan, starting in May 2018. Check out the full story in Delano June 2017 print edition.
