Team Lëtzebuerg added 9 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals to its tally at the Games of the Small States of Europe on Thursday.

The haul included 2 more golds (in the 50m breaststroke and 400m medley) and a silver for swimmer Raphaël Stacchiotti, who had already bagged 6 gold medals over the first two days of competition. Fellow swimmer Julien Henx also won gold medals at the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly and Pit Brandenburger topped the podium in the 200m freestyle.

1500 metre runners Charel Grethen and Vera Hoffmann both won gold in their respective finals, while Claudio Contardi and Nathalie Demange picked up gold in the individual pètanque competitions.

Luxembourg tops the medal table with 24 gold, 21 silver and 15 bronze. Iceland is second in the table with 16 golds and Cyprus is third with 10 golds.
