The firm is considering a 25 hectare site, which would host the largest data centre in the country, according to the public service broadcaster 100,7.
The radio station said on 6 July that the technology firm would run the data centre for its own operations.
The deal has apparently been months in the making. 100,7 noted a picture posted on Twitter by Étienne Schneider, the deputy prime minister, on 6 December 2016 that was captioned:
“In San Francisco, I discussed the implementation of a major investment project in Luxembourg with the co-founder of Google Larry Page”
Schneider told Paperjam that the decision should be taken by “mid-July”.
Luxembourg is home to 19 data centres, include eight that are “Tier IV” certified, the highest performance guarantee in the industry.
