The platform, supported by the non-profit Oekozenter Pafendall and the SuperDrecksKëscht, allows event organisers to pledge their commitment to eco-responsible events by signing a charter. In return, they are free to use the “Green Events” logo for their event and receive a ministry grant.

However, they must first qualify. Interested event organisers will be required to have an initial interview, as well as complete a checklist with 50 criteria focused on topics related to food and drink, communication, waste, energy and so on. Some of the criteria must be adhered to in order for the event to be approved, but experts will be on hand to help give advice.

Green Events is open to a range of event organisers, from associations and clubs, to communes, natural parks and more. The ministry may perform spot checks to ensure criteria are being met.
