Social security minister Romain Schneider (LSAP) by grand ducal decree has been given power of signature to step in for Lenert from 8 to 18 April.

Lenert on 23 March had collapsed while walking her dogs at a pond in Nennig, across the border in Germany. Her driver had alerted police when he couldn’t reach her.

After a short stay in hospital, Lenert is recovering at home. The cause of illness is not known but Lenert denied speculation of an attempted suicide published by the Tageblatt newspaper.

The health ministry at the time said Lenert would take a few days to recover, but she now won’t be returning to her duties until 19 April.

The delegation of signature said she is “temporarily unable to manage the ministerial departments for which she is responsible.”
