Medical care made up 5.47% of Luxembourg GDP in 2016, according to a Eurostat report published on 4 September.
The EU statistics agency said:
“Although Luxembourg has the second lowest ratio of healthcare expenditure to GDP, this is a reflection of the high level of GDP in Luxembourg.”
Only Romania had a lower ratio: 4.99% of GDP.
The average across the entire EU was 9.9%, with the highest rates recorded in France (11.54%), Germany (11.13%) and Sweden (10.98%).
