The government announced the reopening of schools and childcare facilities has been pushed back from 16 April to 4 May. Claude Meisch, the education minister (DP), gave details on homeschooling during a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Movement restrictions mean a large portion of Luxembourg’s workforce is telecommuting, although not everyone is able to telework. And a major trade union, the LCGB, called for a halt to industrial activity this week.

The coronavirus is having a major impact on charities and NGOs, with, for example, the Luxembourg Red Cross forced to cancel its collection drive because of social distancing measures.
