Access to affordable housing remained the main concern of voters in Luxembourg, in the latest edition of the Politmonitor survey, commissioned by RTL and the Luxemburger Wort and published on Wednesday.

Housing was a top concern for 81% of respondents, far ahead of increasing traffic (62%) and the future prospects of children (59%).

Compared to the November 2020 edition of the survey, the issue of housing gained three percentage points in importance, against the backdrop of an increase in real estate prices in the grand duchy.

The important attributed to mobility remained stable, while future prospects for children dropped by two percentage points.

Among the topics of least concern were the development of security (6%), the pension system (35%) and tax fairness (35%) in Luxembourg.

Dissatisfaction rate stable

With two years to go until the 2023 elections, when local and legislative elections will be held, voters were satisfied with the work of the government: 82% said that the executive will be able to get the country out of the health crisis, while the dissatisfaction rate was 35%, the same level as a year ago.

Regarding covid-19, the recent easing of restrictions seems to be welcomed as 92% of respondents welcome the reopening of cafes and restaurants.

This measure ranked in popularity ahead of the free testing of unvaccinated children and adults (83%) and the fact that people can host 10 guests at home (80%).

This survey, conducted by TNS Ilres, was carried out among a sample of 1,127 voters representative of the Luxembourg population, the Wort and RTL said.
