The Infinity Shopping centre on avenue JF Kennedy officially opens on Thursday.

According to our sister magazine Paperjam, who interviewed Olivier Bastin CEO of the promoters, Immobel, all 22 commercial plots in the 6,500 square metre retail space have been sold or rented.

A small number of occupants opened ahead of Thursday. These include Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize and the restaurant Lounge Act One. Law firm Allen & Overy, meanwhile, moved into the Infinity working space offices in November. A further five shops or eateries will open at the site in early 2020. According to Bastin, half of the occupants are Luxembourg brands, including Cocottes.

The €250m complex fills a commercial need in the business district which for many years saw restaurants and shops concentrated at the furthermost end of the road.

According to Bastin, “within ten minutes by car, there are 45,000 workers and 45,000 residents, and within ten minutes by foot, there are 21,000 workers, 1,500 residents and 480 hotel rooms, so the catchment area is important.”

Bastin said the goal was to provide services within walking distance of residents and workers in the district.

The complex also offers 20,000 square metres of residential space and 6,800 square metres of office space. The residential area is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020.

The opening comes after a number of shops were inaugurated at Royal Hamilius, in the city centre, during November. Among them were Fnac and Galeries Lafayette.
