Per Statec, the annualised inflation rate shrunk from 0.9% in March 2020 to 0.6% in April 2020.
Petroleum products overall were 12.7% lower in April than in March, including a 22% drop in home heating fuel prices and 15.4% less pain at the pump.
Food prices rose by 1.7%, with fresh fruit (+8.7%) and fresh vegetables (+11.8%) costlier, and fresh fish (-17.5%) and chocolate (-3.6%) cheaper.
On an annual basis, food prices were 4.5% higher in April 2020 than in April 2019.
Statec issued the data on 6 May.
The statistics bureau collected prices by shopping in stores, checking internet sites and via email and telephone surveys. Its next consumer price report will come out on 8 June.
