It hasn’t been all that long that streaming has been a common way to consume music. While the audience has grown significantly, so has the number of competitors.
Eight year old Spotify already has 75m users worldwide. But there are now more than 10 streaming services. Here, Delano compares three of the biggest: Spotify, Qobuz and Apple Music.
In 2008, the Swedish outfit Spotify and the French service Qobuz launched. While Spotify grew to be a leader in the field, Qobuz stayed relatively unknown until it expanded outside France in 2013.
Comparing Apple, Qobuz and Spotify can be difficult. However, each of them have interesting features. For instance, while Qobuz has much fewer users, it offers an excellent CD quality and a cheaper subscription per month.
Spotify offers an impressive musical catalogue for free, but you have to listen to advertisements. Its main competitor, Apple Music, launched only last year but has been growing significantly. And for good reason, because it gives users access to the whole iTunes library and a 24-hour radio station managed by BBC-alum Zane Lowe.
