And, in the event of quarantine following close contact with an infected person, the screening test should be performed on the sixth day of the quarantine.

The cabinet, which met on Wednesday, adopted the government's draft amendment to the future covid law, which will extend anti-covid measures until the end of the year.

The isolation measure, which applies to people who have tested covid-19 positive, will be reduced from 14 to 10 days, without renewal. This reduction is based on "current WHO recommendations following developments in knowledge of Sars-CoV-2 infection," according to the summary of the council's work.

As for quarantine, which applies to individuals who have been in close contact with an infected person, the screening test will be carried out on the sixth day after the last contact (compared to five days previously)--a decision based on the results of "recent scientific studies".

Health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) will therefore now depose this government amendment, expected before Friday, the date on which the next health committee meeting will take place.

The covid bill should be voted on next Tuesday in public session.
