After more than 10 years at the helm of Dudelange’s opderschmelz culture centre Danielle Igniti will hand over the director’s role of the culture centre to John Rech on 1 March. Igniti had announced her retirement at the end of 2017.

Rech has been a music programmer for the city of Dudelange for several years and is also the vice-president of the board of music:LX, the organisation he co-founded to promote Luxembourg music artists abroad.

Perhaps better known to the general public as a singer-songwriter (he fronted T42 and Dream Catcher), Rech has earned a reputation around Europe as a respected concert booker thanks to his relationships with artists like Wir Sind Helden, Ezio, and Tito & Tarantula. He was also instrumental in establishing Dudelange’s annul Zeltik festival and its Fête de la Musique as unmissable events in the grand duchy. Delano will forever be grateful that Rech brought such artists as Mark Eitzel, Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake, Lloyd Cole and Pere Ubu to Dudelange.
