According to a communiqué from Mudam, Da Costa was selected from 30 potential candidates thanks to his rich experience in business development and marketing via his time is various companies throughout his career. 

After achieving an MBA from Miami University, Da Costa joined the National Lottery in 2001 as sales and marketing manager, a role he filled for 9 years. He then decided to follow his passion for architecture and created his own real estate company in 2010, where he specialised in ecological developments. 

From 2014 to 2015, Da Costa worked at Maison Moderne as head of the Paperjam Business Club before moving to Kyoto in Japan to launch a company dedicated to the preservation of architectural heritage. 

Mudam director Suzanne Cotter commented, “By accepting this new position, José da Costa will bring his great experience and creative spirit to the teams at an important and exciting time for the future of the museum.”
