Previously the space operations director at nanosatellite operator Spire Global, also head-quartered in Luxembourg, Furia has more than 15 years’ experience in software and systems engineering. The appointment comes after Kleos opened a US engineering office in Denver in January.

Furia will report to the CTO, and be responsible for the development and deployment of the Kleos space-based systems.

While working at nanosatellite operator Spire Global, Furia was responsible for managing a constellation of more than 100 satellites and 30 ground stations.

He brings more than eight years’ programme and project management experience to Kleos and has 15 years’ expertise in software and systems engineering, including 11 years at global aerospace and defence technology innovator Harris Corporation.
