Test My App was developed by Philip Grother, an experienced Luxembourg entrepreneur, who found himself in the position of needing to test a new application he was working on.

“I was looking for a company or group where I could pitch my idea and get feedback on its functionality. As I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for in Luxembourg, I set it up for myself. Since then several entrepreneurs have approached me looking for a similar service.” In fact, Grother has enjoyed so much interest in Test My App that he has decided to dedicate his time to pushing it forward.

But how does it work? Grother explained to Delano that, “With Test My App, we provide an environment for entrepreneurs to test the product they have developed with a live audience, which then gives qualitative feedback.” It works like this…

An entrepreneur approaches Test My App with an application or website that is complete, or near completion, or even something that has existed for some time, but needs a review in order to remain attractive to users. Together with Test My App, the entrepreneur prepares his pitch in advance, as well as a Q&A specific to each application to be put to testers.

Next, an audience of 10–20 people come along to an evening session and quite literally practice using the app or website, step-by-step and hand-in-hand with its developer. Depending on the type of product being tested, the audience is personally invited to participate due to having specialist experience, or participation free to any interested member of the general public (although registration is required as places are limited).

Following the session, the entrepreneur gets qualitative feedback on what works and what could be improved upon. Feedback takes the form of a 15-page document prepared by Test My App based on the responses collected from the questionnaire completed by the audience, as well as the interactive feedback collected at the test event itself.

“We ensure that the 15-page feedback document contains clear and actionable points that concretely assist the product developer in taking his project forward and making it more marketable,” Grother insisted.

He also explained how Test My App differs from other business startup or pitching opportunities in Luxembourg. “With Test My App, you have to opportunity to pitch the app or website that you have already developed with the end view of learning how it can be improved in order to be marketable. Other initiatives invite entrepreneurs to sell their idea with a view to achieving investment to develop it.” He agrees that there is room for both types of initiatives, depending on where the entrepreneurs is in the development of his idea or product.
