The grand duchy is competing in the men’s group N seniors tournament against Bosnia, Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates.

This is the first round of pre-qualification matches; the winner of the tournament will advance to round 2. Then there are two more qualifying rounds before teams make it to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The Luxembourg men’s squad is currently ranked 43rd (out of 52) in the world, according to the International Ice Hockey Federation.

“Pretty amazing that this team has made it to the qualifiers for the Olympics,” one Delano reader wrote in to say. “They may not get far, but they got this far.”

All three matches take place at the Kockelscheuer skating rink.

Luxembourg plays Bosnia & Herzegovina on Friday 8 November, starting at 7:15pm. Luxembourg takes on Kyrgyzstan Saturday 9 November at 7:15pm. And Luxembourg faces the UAE on Sunday 10 November at 7:15pm.

The other teams will also face each other at the Kockelscheuer ice rink during this weekend’s tournament.
