“In our education system, the strength of innovation is driven by schools in the field, which is what we want to show with this platform,” education minister Claude Meisch said on Wednesday at a press conference to launch the site.

Website users can filter schools based on innovative projects offered in areas such as entrepreneurship, culture and ICT as well as the curriculum and qualifications taught there, catering arrangements and other facilities offered at the school.

The platform, which is in French, is aimed at pupils before moving from primary to secondary education, as well as students starting college and foreign students joining the Luxembourg school system.

It could prove particularly helpful for the latter group given the large number of English-language offers now available at Luxembourg state schools.

Last year Lycée Michel Lucius opened the first state-run English-language primary school following the British curriculum. In 2016, the Ecole International de Differdange opened with a primary and secondary school offering the European school curriculum with a stream in English. And, starting September 2018, English streams following the European school curriculum will open at primary and secondary schools in Junglinster and Mondorf-les-Bains.
