Responding to a parliamentary question on the matter, foreign affairs minister Jean Asselborn (LSAP) wrote on Thursday that the government had decided that the Luxembourg ambassador to Brazil would be co-accredited to Chile, given the rising tensions there.

He also wrote that the Luxembourg ambassador based in New Delhi would be co-accredited to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

And from summer 2020, embassy chiefs for Mali and Niger would be appointed. According to Asselborn’s response, these two countries would be co-accredited under the role of the ambassador to Senegal, based in Dakar. The foreign affairs ministry announced the upgrading of the Luxembourg office in Niamey, Niger, to embassy status during a visit in October.
