In June, the question of the month survey by TNS Ilres asked 525 people aged 18 and over where respondents bought their groceries, enabling them to give more than one venue.

Cactus was cited by three quarters of people polled, followed by Delhaize (41%), Auchan (39%), Aldi (38%), Lidl (36%), Match (32%), Cora (32%), Naturata (17%), Colruyt (16%), La Provençale (10%) and Pall Center (10%).

A small minority of consumers said they shopped at supermarkets over the border. Fewer than one in ten respondents shopped at Kaufland (8%), Knauf Center (6%), Carrefour (5%), Rewe (4%), Real (4%), Leclerc (3%), Edeka (3%), DM Drogerie Mart (1%), Netto (1%) and a further 3% mentioned other shops outside of Luxembourg.

“The majority have one point in common: they shop in more than one place. 86% of respondents preferred to alternate between shops rather than limit themselves to one place to buy their groceries,” report author Tommy Klein wrote.
