Luxair will operate the Saarbrücken-Berlin line for the last time on 31 December 2019 Luxair Group

The airline announced the closure for economic reasons in a press release, saying that the aircraft requirement for three daily flights with 18 weekly rotations, was too onerous.

The line had been operated by Adria on behalf of Luxair until 24 September when the airline collapsed because of liquidity issues. A week later it filed for receivership. Since then, Nordica has been operating the route.

Luxair said:

“Due to the enormous effort involved and the need to operate these flights by a third party company on behalf of Luxair, it was unfortunately not possible to achieve economic sustainability.”
