- Luxair has signed a codesharing agreement with Scandinavian Airlines. Flights will launch between Findel and Billund, Göteborg, Helsinki, Oslo, Palanga, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, via stopovers in Copenhagen or Stockholm. Luxair is also adding an additional return flights to Dublin weekday evenings (mid-September to the end of October), an additional Barcelona flight on Sunday evenings, and additional service to Venice.
- The former manager of a travel agency stands trial in Luxembourg City this week on fraud charges. In 2013, the man allegedly sold 569 round-trip tickets to Lisbon and Porto for €295; police say the average market price at the time was nearly €500. However, the agency supposedly did not have an agreement with any airline for the seats, and was unable to find flights for those customers. Eventually a small number of travelers received partial refunds.
- GDP grew 0.5% during the first quarter in both the euro area and entire EU, according to Eurostat.
- The consultancy EY has published six measures that companies can quickly take to prevent ransomware cases. “Wannacry” has struck thousands of organsiations in 150 countries.
- KPMG, an advisory firm, is launching a “Women in Tax Club”. “By creating a community of women who share the same aspirations and issues, we will contribute to increasing diversity in our professional environment and so, indirectly, make the tax sector more attractive for women,” according to the firm’s Flora Castellani.
