Claudine Konsbruck (CSV), who prepared the report, said per Le Quotidien that the budget was “ambitious [and] has a long-term vision as well as great expectations”.

It added that the capital’s rude financial reserves means it won’t have to worry about the deficit. Housing creation, ecology and mobility would among the main focal points in the coming year.

For 2020, the budget provides for €860.7m in ordinary receipts and €595m in ordinary expenses, a positive balance of €264.7m. Extraordinary receipts and expenses are calculated at €79m and €426.7m, respectively, resulting in a negative balance of €347.7m.

The net effect of the ordinary and extraordinary balances yields the €83m deficit.

While the 2020 draft budget has been supported by the majority parties, it will be voted on this Friday when the council reconvenes. A vote on the rectified budget for 2019 will also take place then.
