That’s according to figures published by Statec, the national statistics bureau, on 1 April 2020.

The biggest increase came from net migration: 11,075 more people moved to the grand duchy than left the country last year. The net birth rate added another 1,947 residents.

That put the total number of Luxembourg inhabitants up to 626,108 at the beginning of the year.

Statec said that 52.6% of residents were Luxembourg citizens and 47.4% were foreign nationals.
