The GouvAlert.lu application was released by the interior ministry GouvAlert.lu

Available from Apple’s App Store and Google Play, GouvAlert.lu is a free application sharing alerts in English, French and German.

In the event of a public emergency situation which would impact public safety, the application notifies citizens, who may not be able to access a traditional source of information immediately. If the incident impacts only a small area, the alerts will be sent to those who have the app and are within a certain perimeter.

Alerts are issued by the emergency relief centre and the crisis communication department of the ministry of state. The sharing of information also goes two ways—with users able to contact the 112 emergency centre via the app. Their call will be geolocated so that emergency services can locate the caller and respond as quickly and accurately as possible.

The application also provides advice on how to respond to different kinds of crises and response plans from www.infocrise.lu
