Quick-Step Floors’ Patrick Lefevere told the Belgian broadcaster that the former UC Dippach rider had matured. “Last season he was among the best young people in the Giro. Next year, we will throw him into the arena of the Tour,” the manager said.

The 2018 Tour de France takes place from 7-29 July and will start from Île de Noirmoutier, a small island off of France's Atlantic coast. It takes in a number of interesting mountain stages, including the Alpe d'Huez, as well as a hilly sprint finish for the penultimate stage.

Jungels competed in the Tour de France in 2015, when he finished twenty-seventh overall, and fifth in the young rider category while riding for Trek. This year he finished eighth overall in the Giro d’Italia in which he was able to take stage 15, making him the first Luxembourg rider in 56 years to record a win at this race.
