“The construction of a new building is a major project that will take years,” he told the Luxemburger Wort on Thursday.

It had been widely understood that Luxexpo would move from its current Kirchberg location. Yet when questioned on the topic recently, minister for small and medium-sized enterprises Lex Delles (DP) said the decision had not yet been taken.

Gromy told the newspaper that a discussion document is being prepared on the future of events infrastructure in Luxembourg, taking into account long-term trends in the sector. However, he says that this is starting to cause problems as clients are asking about arrangements for 2028 and beyond.

Regardless, the short-term future of Luxexpo appears secure following the recent €1.5m capital increase from the shareholders: Chamber of Commerce, City of Luxembourg, Spuerkess, Chambre des Métiers and BGL BNP Paribas.
