Starting in May 2019, Luxtrust users will be expected to define a “secret image”, known only to the user in question.

In its press release published on Monday, Luxtrust said the step was necessary in order to comply with the “Payment Services Directive 2” (PSD2).

“The consumer must be able to make payments securely and be able to validate any transaction by having all the information in his or her possession,” it wrote.

How does it work?

Firstly, customers must select their secret image when they connect to a Luxtrust partner site, such as online banking, myguichet.lu or multiline. The image can be changed at any time via the myluxtrust personal space.

If they do not see their chosen image in later connections, they are advised to cancel their transaction and contact Luxtrust.

Luxtrust points out that the secret image step will be added later this year for consumers using their token with 3D Secure Service when shopping online.
