A police patrol in Ehleringen noticed a car with a broken tail light, the daily newspaper reported on 17 October. When they checked the registration, it was flagged as stolen. They followed the car and when the man drove home, they confronted him and checked his identity. It turned out that the man was wanted by police and an arrest warrant had been issued.

While the car was indeed his, it had been immobilised by Belgian police, in Aubange. The man had a second key for the car and took off with it. The Belgian police requested he return it, but he refused, so they registered it as stolen.

The Luxembourg public prosecutor ordered the confiscation of the vehicle. Because the person in question did not have the means to pay his fines, he has been placed in Schrassig prison.
