The 53-year-old, who also serves as justice minister, was admitted to intensive care on 22 August.

On Tuesday, the government said that in order to provide an accurate diagnosis further examinations of the minister's condition were necessary.

While Braz is laid up in hospital, his justice ministry duties will be covered by François Bausch (déi gréng), who also has the internal security, mobility and public works portfolios.

“For the time being, the government cannot provide further details and requests that the privacy of the minister and his family be respected,” the government wrote in a statement.
